Wait until you see these magnificent photos. The power and beauty of these animals are breathtaking! Rod has a long and varied background in photography. His specialty is wildlife and more specifically wild horses. A number of 'wildlife photographers' sell images of animals enclosed in game farms, posed captive animals, etc. When you see an image of Rod's labeled as a wild animal, you will know that the picture is the result of hours to weeks of effort; often multiple trips searching for these guys. He feels honored to be able to spend time with these animals, especially the mustangs. He says "Waking up at 2 a.m. to the sound of a band of horses moving past is special and a picture taken at sunrise is a great reward for the time spent."

Mary McKay
Mary's dad was in the army, so they moved around a lot. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia where he was stationed at Fort McPherson. Then they moved to Scofield Barracks in Hawaii, where her sister was born. Next stop was Fort Bragg, North Carolina, which she called home as it was the longest stay. From there to Fort Sam Houston, Texas. When she was sixteen the next and last stop was Fort Lawton, Washington; and there he was stationed when WWII broke out. Except for a few years in Idaho, she has lived here in Washington. Her first drawing was an elephant in her mom's cookbook, then she did horse heads on pieces of wood. She started out with acrylics, then moved on to oils. She also has used pencil, charcoal, pastels, and watercolors. She's taken a few workshops, but you could say she's self taught. Her favorite subjects are Mt. Rainier and landscapes.

Fred Oldfield
Fred has participated in all the Eatonville Art Festivals; and at 97 years young, he is looking forward to this years show! Fred Oldfield has a passion and appreciation for life that is reflected in his work. His colors are bold and powerful like the beauty he sees in his surroundings. Fred was born in Alfalfa, WA. in 1918 and grew up on the Yakima Indian Reservation near Toppenish. During his early years he never knew a permanent home. He held many jobs as he was growing up. Most often, he worked as a cowhand. His collectors are drawn to these stories and early experiences that he tells with his brush and canvas. His optimism is unquenchable and his enthusiasm for telling his story with his paintings is undimmed. He is very active in his community ~ the Northwest ~ and has raised thousands of dollars for community projects with his paintings. The next natural step was to have the Fred Oldfield Western Heritage & Art Center open, which is dedicated to preserving Fred’s dream of sharing his love of life, his Western Art and the history of the American West. Fred still paints every day. But more than that, he’s the last of a dying breed. Fred Oldfield personifies the cowboy whose handshake is the only contract he’ll ever need.

Walt Phillips
Walt is a wonderful artist who has been an avid supporter of this Festival for many years! His work is peaceful and brings nature and its beauty for all to enjoy. As a youth, Walt's friends called him nature boy because most of his free time was spent in woods or near a pond sketching wildlife. At 15, he began numbering each of his finished artwork, so it would be easy to mark his evolution as an artist. Number 001 was a Largemouth Bass painted on the back of his Mom’s window shade. His Studio is nestled in a 14-acre forest SE of Yelm. Walt and Sandy keep it wild for local critters as a source for his artistic inspiration. Walt's art intends to tell a story or depict a mood showing interaction of wildlife inspired by his life’s experiences. He's a self taught artist, who prefers to paint wildlife with realism using Pen or Acrylic Paints. A limited number of commissions are accepted as he finds a certain joy creating something others.

Lisa Rasmussen
Lisa was raised in Eatonville and she is certainly a "home town" favorite! Her whimsical animal caricatures are absolutely charming! Lisa has been creating her caricatures since 1982. Her first art show was the Eatonville art festival 32 years ago. Her inspiration comes from her childhood of growing up on the farm, and she sees the animals with human personalities in fun colorful settings. She now draws almost every animal and lately giraffes and zoo animals have been popular. Her art is known mostly for the Puyallup fair which she has been part of the fair for 28 years. Over the years she has promoted over 15 fairs nationally, and this year Lisa will be promoting the Pierce County Fair and the Spokane Interstate fair. All of her caricatures have warm, friendly and peaceful personalities that make you smile.

We are very excited to have Aaron's work at the Festival this year. It is his first show with us. We know you won't want to miss these great birdbaths! Aaron has been making these unique birdbaths for over 20 years. He continues to improve his designs daily. His work is on display and for sale at Lakewold Gardens in Lakewood Washington; and Rosedale Gardens, Gig Harbor. His 29-year background as a concrete flatworker has given him the experience he needs to create his birdbaths. His work is called sand casting, and you build them and pour them upside down and he cannot make two of the same kind.
